Description
A pair of antique Japanese, late Meiji era, Ginbari enamel over copper vases. The urn shaped vases are enameled with a polychrome medallion depicting a Geisha lady holding a lamp surrounded by floral and foliage ornaments made in the Ginbari Cloisonne technique. The base and the neck are adorned with floral and foliate scroll patterns made in the same technique. Ginbari is a Japanese cloisonne technique when clear enamel is laid over a stippled silver layer applied to the copper sheet body. Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century.
