Description
A tie-dye jacket created by "The Fool" design collective for The Lovin' Spoonful founder, John Sebastian.
The long-sleeved cotton velour jacket features a multi-colored tie-dye pattern, gold-tone metal buttons, two breast pockets, and an embroidered tree patch on the back. Labeled "The Chariot - Cosmic Couture." No size present.
The Fool (consisting of Marijke Koger, Simon Posthuma, Josje Leeger, and Barry Finch) was a Dutch design collective and band popular for their psychedelic art and famous for working with artists such as The Hollies, Cream, and especially with The Beatles on the short-lived Apple Boutique. According to Sebastian, one day the members of "The Fool" showed up at the 46-acre artistic community near Studio City called "The Farm" where he was living at, in order for Marijke to record an album. Sebastian gave the group scraps of fabric he had tie-dyed himself, and they came back with this jacket.
Sebastian was seen wearing the jacket at a party thrown by The Who, c. 1975, alongside Harry Nilsson, Pamela Des Barres, and Keith Moon.
