Description
A letter written by Bon Scott when he was lead singer of the Australian progressive rock band Fraternity, prior to joining AC/DC. The letter comprises four pages written in blue ballpoint pen on three sheets of lined notepaper, to Alison, one of the founders of the "Fraternity Appreciation Society". Scott discusses Fraternity's recent shows in Perth and mentions the "last job, a Sunday night concert / was ok. We doubled the "chains" concert (around / 600) and from all accounts we sounded / incredible / but it wasn't our best performance / for the tour." Scott also discusses various other topics including only being no. 2 in the singles charts that week in Adelaide "(Daddy Cool's Eagle / on the Rock in no.1)"; staying with his parents in Perth; promotional work with radio station 6KY; and possible upcoming gigs in Melbourne and Sydney. The bottom of the third page is signed "Peace & Love / Bon - Fraternity" with a note added overleaf "Bruce [Howe] came up with an idea / tonight about spelling FRATERNITY / with a small "f" what do you / think....Bon". With corresponding handwritten envelope date stamped "Adelaide / 24 APR / 1971". Also included are an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of Bon Scott in Fraternity playing the recorder, circa early 1970s; and a copy of a 3-page typed "July. Fraternity Appreciation Society Newsletter No.1." Together with a copy of a letter of provenance from Alison, the original recipient of the letter.

Bon Scott was lead singer of Australian proogressive rock band Fraternity from 1970 to 1973. The band enjoyed modest success in Australia but disbanded in 1973 with Scott going on to join AC/DC as lead vocalist in 1974.
